What can you tell us about yourself ?
I graduated in June 1984 with a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics from AZERBAIDJAN STATE UNIVERSITY in Baku, Azerbaijan. I’ve been teaching since. First, as a Differential and Integral Calculus Professor for the UNIVERSITARY CENTER JOSE ANTONIO ECHEVARRIA in Havana, Cuba. Then, in Miami, FL for MIAMI DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS & MIAMI DADE COLLEGE as an Instructor preparing students for the TABE, GED, HSCT, FCAT, and CPT tests.
What led you to write this book?
22 years of teaching Math, the love and respect for my profession, and the great feeling of accomplishment I get from guiding the students’ train of thoughts trough a strategically ordered sequence of exercises. . . . . but originally, when I started writing, I wasn’t thinking in writing a book. I was developing handouts that would correlate the curriculum and would introduce concepts and skills in the easiest possible way I could think. In the meantime, loose pages were piling everywhere. One day, while organizing handouts and answer keys, I laughed at myself thinking out loud “I almost have a book” . . . then I realized “I ALMOST HAVE A BOOK!!”
Are you going to do it again, meaning is there a second book?
humm...Let me tell you, there were days I was so eager to sit down and create a new page with that specific skill one of my student didn’t get in class, that I could not go to bed at all. It’s been such a wonderful and rewarding experience, I don’t think I’ll be able to stop now.
